Classes to encourage and equip married couples at Westside
Marriage is a gift from God. There are verses to prove this: “It was not good that Adam was alone” (Gen 2:18), and “Let your fountain be blessed and rejoice in the wife of your youth” (Prov 5:18), and even “How beautiful and pleasant you are, O loved one, with all your delights!” (Song of Solomon 6:3)
And while we know this to be true, it’s also true that with marriage there comes tension, disagreement, hurt and disappointment. This is par for the course when you take two sinful people and try to make them live as one, but we must also recognize that misery this is not God’s intended purpose for marriage, and he has given us the tools in the gospel to both temper our expectations of each other and raise our expectations in terms of what can happen when each person in a marriage takes seriously the wisdom and hope of God in Jesus.
Refresh! is a series of 5 classes that aims to help married couples address the heart of the challenges in their marriage be they small or large and grow together in grace. The classes are built around a resource from Paul David Tripp entitled “What did you Expect” and will include video teaching time, discussion, Q&A and a work book to continue the discussion at home with your spouse.
