Internships

We are so glad you’re considering an internship at Westside! We are extremely passionate about equipping the next generation of leaders to serve the local church. This internship is intended to help you discern calling and gifting, as well as aid in the formation of the character and competency required for a strong ministerial foundation.

Interns will form relationships with others in the program and also with the Pastors/Ministry Directors and Deacons you will serve alongside.

At our core, we want to help train, equip and mobilize you to be who God is calling you to be. Interns will experience a blend of practical training as well as classroom style instruction.

Westside internships will include a period of time in several ministry areas in order to provide a general overview of local church ministry. These ministry areas include:

Vancouver Campus:

  • Missions
  • Youth
  • Kids
  • Community Groups
  • Media/Design (Portfolio required)
  • Worship (Audition required)
  • Ministry Teams
  • Preaching/Teaching

North Shore Campus:

  • Missions
  • Youth
  • Kids
  • Preaching/Teaching


Internship Options

There are two different options offered for internships:

  • Full-time / 21 hours: September 4–April 30
  • Internship Light / Summer Interns: July 10–August 21

 

Full-time Internship (21 hours) Sept 4 - April 30

Sunday –7am-1pm: Overseeing various ministries and helping facilitate ministries

Tuesday –9am-12pm: Ministry site and working alongside of ministry team director

Wednesday –9am-12pm: Prayer, staff mtg, team meetings;  1pm-5pm: Training, reading, and meeting with people on various teams and projects

Thursday –9am-12pm: Ministry site and working alongside of ministry team director


Who Should Apply?

Westside Internships require a high level of investment and are designed for both men and women who are exploring calls to local church ministry. If you have some previous leadership experience and a desire to be intentionally challenged in a gospel-saturated environment, we'd love for you to apply.

Mission of Internships: Training, equipping and mobilizing future leaders

  • Training in theological matters relating to local church ministry.
  • Equipping to contend for and share the gospel in our culture through the local church.
  • Mobilizing to serve the local church in various capacities.

How are interns paid?

Interns have the option of fundraising to support themselves. We offer training on how to raise support in the months before the internship begins for those who would like to consider this option.

*It is understood that there may be extenuating circumstances keeping you from attending a CG. We certainly want to side on grace if that’s the case, we would just like to talk to you beforehand.

Ministry Components

  • Service in a designated ministry area at Westside.
  • Leadership roles and responsibilities within specified areas of ministry.
  • Training in our theology/philosophy of ministry.
  • Intentional discipleship relationships with 2-3 other people.
  • Half-day training events (taught by pastors and visiting teachers)

Internship Light - Summer Interns (July 10 – August 21)

We recognize that for some, especially university students, the upcoming Summer may lend itself to further ministry opportunities. If you have some free time this summer and are looking to 1) be invested in and 2) invest into some amazing ministries here at Westside, then we would love to have you apply to be a Summer Intern. You will spend July and August forming community with fellow interns and staff as you use your gifts to make an impact through Kids Clubs and Preschool Day Camps. You will also learn some of the ins and outs of ministry here at Westside. As we study together you will grow as a disciple of Jesus, leader, Bible teacher, and communicator of the Gospel.

Who Should Apply?

The Summer Internship is a medium level investment designed for both men and women who are either exploring calls to local church ministry or who simply desire to serve. If you’re over the age of 18 and have a desire to be intentionally challenged in a gospel-saturated environment, we’d love for you to apply.

How are interns paid during the Summer Internship?

The summer internship is unpaid and intended primarily for those with the desire and flexibility to serve the church in varying capacities.

Week 1 (July 9-15): Vancouver Campus Day Camps

Sunday - 8am-12pm: Overseeing various ministries and helping facilitate ministries

Monday-Friday: 8:30am-5pm

Week 2-6 (July 16-August 20)

Sunday – 7am-1pm: Overseeing various ministries and helping facilitate ministries

Tuesday –9am-12pm: Ministry site and working alongside of ministry team director

Wednesday –9am-12pm: Prayer, staff mtg, team meetings; 1pm-5pm: training, reading, and meeting with people on various teams and projects

Thursday –9am-12pm: ministry site and working alongside of ministry team director
