Justice & Mercy Team
Serving at Westside
At Westside, we have incredible teams of people who serve on Sunday Ministry Teams—and various teams throughout the week—with the heart to make Jesus known and to serve each other through their gifts, time and talents. These teams are a great way to get involved, meet others within the church, and serve the body of Christ.
"As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen."
1 Peter 4:10-11
The Melting Pot is a sub-ministry under the umbrella of the Justice & Mercy ministry. The aim for The Melting Pot is two-fold: to serve a hot meal, in this case soup, to anyone who is hungry in the area around The Centre; and to serve the guests who come through The Centre's doors in such a way that ministers to their spiritual hunger, sharing the Gospel through our actions and words as we develop relationships with the men and women who attend.
The Melting Pot’s meal consists of two hot soups to choose from, a bun, a hot cup of coffee, and a cookie. This can either be eaten at The Centre or taken to go.
Dinner of Love
If you haven’t been to a Dinner of Love, there is one thing that you need to know: you’re probably unknowingly coming as a dinner guest. We all feast together at round tables. Jesus commands us, in Luke 14:12, “When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbours… But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind…” Jesus was stressing the generosity that we are to show toward the less fortunate. The Word makes it clear: we should be eating in community, regularly, and with the less fortunate.
