Christmas Encouragement from Pastor Matt

Happy December, Westside—I can't believe I just wrote that... I was mildly shocked this past week when I saw our lobby at The Centre being decorated for Christmas. It just feels too early. Though, it feels too early every year and I'm always wrong.

December is one of the busiest months of the year for most of us and it'll be gone before we know it. That's the problem. Time just keeps rushing past us and we can't bottle it up or even hang onto a single second. All we get are moments–like this one right now. These moments are fleeting, yet full of opportunity, and come only in a fixed number.

This is why Jesus came: to do something about our moments. The moments we spend in darkness. The moments we spend without realizing their purpose. Jesus came to shine light into our darkness. He flips the script on our moments and shows us that even though time moves fast, we're never actually in a time shortage.

Jesus has given us all the time we need to know and enjoy Him as Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. Even in December!

Before we know it, it'll be 2020. Let me encourage you in this: don't let the movement of time put pressure on you this month. Enjoy your fleeting moments and squeeze every drop of opportunity out of them by handing each one over to Jesus.
