Women's Bible Studies

Westside Women’s Bible Studies are offered three times a year (fall, winter and spring). Our aim is to equip women at Westside with the tools and confidence they need to make studying the Bible an effective, lifelong pursuit, and in this way prepare them to live out Jesus’ call to be disciple-makers (Matt. 28:19).

Bible Studies Online

In light of the evolving situation with COVID-19 (see our full communication and updates on this), we are taking the opportunity to be good citizens and neighbours, and help to protect the most vulnerable among us by giving up our usual way of doing Bible studies for a time. All Bible studies will be held in an online setting during the current pandemic.

Westside Women's Bible studies are open to those who currently and regularly attend Westside Church and those who would not necessarily call themselves a Christian, but are exploring faith and are without a home church. We would humbly encourage women whose home church is not Westside to consider investing their gifts, talent, and time in their local church body in order to build it up and strengthen its community.

During the pandemic, we will not be offering childcare during Bible studies.

Please note that the registration cost will still be the same regardless of if you already own the study guide. Study guides will be provided to you closer to the start date.

The focus of Bible study is to spend daily time with the Lord and learn from Him, using the Bible study material as a guide. Please note that the studies vary in regards to how much time one needs to set aside each week to adequately cover the required material. When participants get together, it is expected that each person share some of what they learned throughout the week as they studied, prayed, and reflected on the study material. It is expected that you will attend each week (except in the case of a vacation, sickness or emergency).

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.
Ephesians 6:12-13

One of the pieces of the armor of God is the Sword of the Spirit. Do you know what it is? And are you using the Sword to stand firm against the spiritual forces of evil?

This study is called THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT because the sword refers to the Word of God. We use the Sword when we know specific Scriptures and understand the Truth so we can battle the lies and accusations from the evil one. To know the Scriptures we must study, meditate on and memorize them.

During this 12 lesson study we will study, meditate on and memorize Scriptures relating to the following topics:The Gospel, Holiness, Worship, Gratitude, God’s Sovereignty, Persecution, Our Calling, Prayer, Jesus, Contentment, Practical Living, Busyness/Stillness

This is not a formal study, but a 7 week, weekly prayer group.

Leader: Jen Por
Dates: Tuesdays, April 7 - May 19, 2020
Time: 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Location: Online (leader will provide information)
Cost: Free
Number of Participants: 20

Participants will be going through a weekly small worksheet to go along with the different sections of the Lord's prayer and we will focus much of our time together praying. If you have children in the home and need to break off temporarily during this time, it is absolutely ok.

Prayer is one of the greatest and most powerful gifts we have been given as a Christian, and one in which we can always continue to learn and grow in. Using the example of Jesus’ prayer known as The Lords Prayer, come join us in practicing this teaching together as we “with confidence draw near to the throne of grace that we may receive mercy and find grace to find help in time of need”. Hebrews 4:16

What is your purpose? Why does God place you in certain places during specific times? God is sovereign, providential and always working in the affairs of His creation even when we are unaware. Esther attained royalty for "such a time as this." She allowed God to use her in difficult situations. Are you willing to do the same?
