Serving During COVID-19
Note: As of February 2021, we are gathering online only for the time being. When restrictions lift we will resume our in-person gatherings, and we'll need all the help we can get then—read on to see how you might be part of the reopening plan!
In light of COVID-19 (see our full communications and updates on this), we are taking the opportunity to be good citizens and neighbours—and helping to protect the most vulnerable among us—by making some big adjustments to our usual ways of gathering.
In addition to gathering each Sunday in our homes around the city, we are also making available three zones for in-person gathering at our downtown theatre location. Each zone is carefully prepared to allow for beyond-regulation physical distancing and excellent adherence to all of the Provincial Health safety precautions.
This is a huge undertaking that takes over 60 volunteers each week to pull off. Would you prayerfully consider serving this year to help us prepare a warm, welcoming, and safe place for the body of Christ to gather?
SUNDAY MINISTRY TEAMS
To help support Westside's in-person gatherings and ministries, let us know about your gifts and life/work experiences so we can guide you to the right team.
Hospitality - Helps everyone feel welcome, from checking in for their registration, to getting seated, to getting connected with the rest of the church.
Safety - Helps everyone feel secure by helping to keep an eye on things, communicating via radio, and occasionally having calming conversations with people who need them.
Café - Helps everyone feel at home and wakeful by providing coffee in a COVID-safe way.
Facilities - Helps everyone feel honoured and safe by cleaning and sanitizing before and after everyone comes.
Communion - Helps everyone understand that they are in a sacred moment and place by serving communion in a dignified way. You can serve in this role WHILE serving in any of the other roles (except for Safety Team).
Medical Response - The designated first responder if any medical emergency should take place on a Sunday, this role requires your OFA Level 2 certification. You can serve in this role WHILE serving in any of the other roles.
The Production Team serves both those in the building and those watching from home, making it possible for us to hear the message and engage with worship—to be spiritually fed through the preaching of God’s Word.
Presentation -Play a large role in both gatherings, as they run the presentation slides that display words and images in the auditorium and for those gathering over the live stream.
Sound -Ensures the audio for the Westside gatherings and events are clear, immersive and distraction free. Roles: Lead Tech, Assistant Tech.
Video Production - Film the sermons or edit the video after the gatherings for our website and social media. Roles: Camera Operators, Editors.
Our worship team serves on Sunday mornings, leading the church in expressions of worship through prayer and song.
People who are interested in being a part of the Creative Team are passionate about Knowing Jesus and Making Jesus Known and reaching the lost in our city, whether that be through visual arts, events, or other creative endeavours. We need people of all sorts of different skill sets—from project managers to artists, from tradesmen to seamstresses, and everyone in between—but most of all, you need to be passionate about reaching our city, stirring the Church up to love and good works, and you need to love people!
